Sixth Annual "A Special Day in Northfield Holiday Celebration"

The Sixth Annual "A Special Day in Northfield Holiday Celebration" will take place Saturday, December 10, 2011.

THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS FROM LAST YEAR'S "A Special Day in Northfield Holiday Celebration" which took place Saturday, December 11, 2010.

The Fifth Annual "Special Day in Northfield: A Holiday Celebration" will feature over 20 musical performances, gift making and craft activities, demonstrations and shopping venues along the Main Street and back roads of Northfield, Mass. on Saturday, December 11, 2010, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A complete list of activities and underwriters follows.

Activities:

Ride the Special Day Antique Trolley, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Parking and maps available at Green Trees Galley, 105 Main Street.

Horse-drawn hay rides leave from Piela's Farm Market parking lot next to the Fire Station, 95 Main Street, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Elegant horse drawn surrey rides leave from Green Trees Gallery at 105 Main Street to Dickinson Memorial Library and back from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Meet WHAI Radio Personality Jay Fidanza and Victorian Carolers at locations along the event route.

Tom White Pottery - Tom's 31st Annual Holiday Open House and Studio Sale, refreshments, door prize, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., 205 Winchester Road

Music for Life Music Studio -Wizardly guitarists, spell-binding pianists, magical songs, raise-the-roof sing-alongs and amazing computers that play astonishing music at the touch of a finger! Nicely spiced with hot cider and cookies from 11 to 3 p.m., 183 Winchester Road

Upon Ago - A Baby Boutique - Pictures with Santa. Bring your camera from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Create letters from Santa to your child. Plus, cookies and hot chocolate, 168 Main Street

Dickinson Memorial Library - Make a Cork Critter 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., 115 Main Street

Northfield Coffee and Books - Annie Chappell/David Gordon-Early American Folk Music at 10 a.m.- Hot Chocolate Specials all day, Open early at 8 a.m.! Green Trees Gallery Building, 105 Main Street

Greater Northfield Watershed Association - Celebrate and learn about the Connecticut River with the Discovery Center's interactive watershed display, Green Trees Gallery Building from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., 105 Main Street

Green Trees Gallery - Theater performance by Ruthanne Paulson's young theater students performing "Stone Soup" in the Gallery's showroom. Come and watch the play from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., 105 Main Street

Green Trees Gallery - Holiday Crafts in the studio behind the Gallery showroom. Hand dip candles, cut fabulous snowflakes, make pinecone bird feeders from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Shop for lovely gifts by local artists 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.! 105 Main Street

Piela's Farm Market and Grille - Enjoy apple cider doughnuts and hot cocoa from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., 95 Main Street

Centennial House Bed & Breakfast - Mrs. Claus reads stories by the fireplace from 12 noon to 3 p.m. at 94 Main Street. Gift certificate sales and tours 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Art & Soul - Make your own wrapping paper and learn 'green' wrapping techniques with Beth Bazler of Northfield Mountain Environmental and Recreation Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Shop for gifts by local artisans from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., 75 Main Street

Rooster's Bistro - Come join us for holiday fare and great music in the air from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., 72 Main Street.

The Notch Family Restaurant - Welcome to Northfield! Eat lunch and dinner at the family-friendly Notch, 77 Main Street

Mim's Market - Gingerbread Cookie decorating, banjo and acoustic music. Children and adults welcome from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., 60 Main Street

Fairview Gardens - Make your own snowman from a white carnation and buttons, decorations provided free of charge from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., 8 Main Street

Northfield Mountain Antiques - Annual 20 % off Christmas Gift Sale. Ghirardelli brownies and cocoa, view in progress restoration from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., 1026 Millers Falls Road

At the future C.S. Lewis College - Festival of Lights Celebration at the newly renovated historic Sage Chapel, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Doors open at 4 p.m., refreshments served. Ample parking. Route 63, Main Street (former campus of NMH School).

Gift Basket Drawing! Attend six events, activities or open houses and have your map signed at each location, and you'll be eligible to enter the drawing for beautiful gift baskets full of Northfield merchandise. Maps are available on the Trolley and at all participating merchants and organizations.
